Charter Walk Shopping Centre is delighted to be launching a green innovative campaign which will involve fun, free events and green initiatives at the community shopping centre – and you could be part of it!
*Due to all the snow and other unfavourable weather conditions recently the launch of Budding Burnley has been pushed back to Monday 19th March*
Charter Walk Shopping Centre is to open a brand new allotment which has been named ‘Budding Burnley’, The allotment will provide an enjoyable, diverse shopping experience for all as it will revitalise a blank, empty space into a beautiful haven and new lease of life, as well as being a community hub for all.
The shopping centre is looking for volunteers to help the allotment flourish and ensure it’s taken care of and they want YOU to be part of the exciting venture every Monday and Friday afternoon. The fun project seeks to encourage volunteers to dig down deep assisting our friendly Centre Gardener, Laurence, who will be planting various delicious crops, herbs and an array of plants. To become part of this exciting community cause, visit facebook.com/CharterWalk.Burnley, for further details.
The campaign will be a key community engagement feature in local organisations and projects, which will promote and support healthier lifestyles within the area. The crops that are produced in the green space will be donated to a local community cause. The allotment will be developed by local people throughout the year at Charter Walk and will be providing free, fun competitions and activities for all the family – keep your eyes peeled!
Debbie Hernon, Centre Manager, said “Charter Walk Shopping Centre is extremely excited to announce the arrival of the ‘Budding Burnley’ allotment. We are looking forward to creating a community hub within the centre as we provide free activity for everyone to get involved.”
