Within the first year of opening Burnley Campus Social Enterprise Ltd was awarded the Partnership for Schools Community Hub Award.
Burnley Campus Social Enterprise Ltd has fast become recognised nationally as exemplar in delivering extended services using the not for profit business model. First established in October 2008 the business model has not only brought the visionary partners together on the co-located Campus but has assisted them in drawing up a sustainable plan for the future.
The Campus is open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, from 7.30 am until 10.00 pm, delivering activities such as football coaching, climbing wall sessions, fitness activities, conference and events, swimming lessons, water babies classes, knit and natter in the public library to state a few! The state-of-the-art facilities are utilised fully to ensure that they are available to all at affordable prices. The wide range of activities and services are offered not only to support young people and the community to lead healthy lifestyles, to feel safe, to enjoy and be successful but to support the partners on campus in delivering high quality education and other services.
The social enterprise, schools, library, and faith centre all work seamlessly together with the universal aim of providing an excellent learning environment for students and top quality services for the local community.
The partners have been actively involved in research projects undertaken by the National College of School Leaders and Social Enterprise London, who said that they were in “Social Enterprise Heaven” during their visit to the Campus.
