Lancashire Business View will lead the debate on skills for businesses across the county at the Lancashire Skills Summit taking place on 21 August 2018 at VEKA.

We’ll bring together figures from key business sectors to discuss the challenges they face and how they are being addressed with a special panel.

The conversation will also bring together Lancashire’s skills providers so they can hear and understand the needs of business and share how they are working with businesses to ensure skills success in the second panel of the summit.

If you want to help shape the skills agenda, this is a must-attend event.

Taking place during results week there will be a real buzz at the event as we look to the future of skills in Lancashire.

Lancashire Business View will report from the event and use the insight to produce its Skills Report for the September / October edition of the magazine.

Debate one – view from the businesses

Companies representing of Lancashire’s key sectors will be featured to discuss the skills gap and how it is affecting their businesses. What support do they have to address the problem and what is it that they need? What impact is the skills gap having on productivity, now and in the future? Are the providers listening to their needs?

Debate two – view from the skills providers

The skills providers will discuss their view on the needs of business and how they are looking to meet them. Schools, colleges, universities – are they listening to business and how is that shaping their provision? How are they facing the challenges of a fast-moving digital revolution and the changing nature of the workplace? Are the skills being taught and delivered the right ones for Lancashire’s future economic wellbeing?

We’ll conclude the morning with a final panel to assess the key points and what the calls to action are to ensure skills success.
