The former Michelin Tyre factory site is located adjacent to the Heasandford Industrial Estate, 2 miles from Burnley town centre.
The former tyre warehouse occupying the northern boundary of the site has recently undergone a £3m refurbishment and is now occupied by Burnley’s largest employer Aircelle, part of the French aerospace giant SAFRAN.
The entrance to the site has benefitted from the recent development of the Lancashire Digital Technology Centre (LDTC). The Centre offers a state of the art incubation unit alongside conference facilities. High-quality business incubator units are available for innovative, technology-related businesses all with the latest CAT A cable and broadband technology and free car parking.
The vision for the site is to promote the site for future development, as an ‘advanced manufacturing/engineering park’ (AMP) making the site attractive to the higher value added manufacturing and engineering business sectors.
The Advanced Manufacturing Park is needed to provide follow-on space for companies when they leave the Technology Centre and to enable local businesses to move to newer more efficient buildings. It also has potential to attract local aerospace companies, particularly those who are part of the Aircelle supply chain. This will require bespoke units across a range of uses and sizes providing space for technology industries in Burnley.
