The Burnley plant of the global firm TRW Automotive has been selected as one of only 11 recipients worldwide from more than 180 eligible facilities to receive a prestigious health, safety and environmental award. It is the fifth time in six years that TRW Automotive Burnley has received the accolade.
Criteria for the award is based on 100% achievement of TRW global targets in various areas. The award was presented to Burnley operations director Mr John Kennedy by Mr Ralf Jeskulke, vice president of TRW Global Body Control Systems, who had flown in from Germany.
There were also representatives of TRW corporate health and safety as well as staff from Burnley Council’s Business Support team, and the Burnley Bondholder Group, demonstrating TRW’s commitment to the pioneering work of the Bondholder group.
Mr Jeskulke stressed the important role the Burnley facility played as a specialist unit for lower volume and after market parts for not only the whole of Europe but potentially becoming the co-ordinator for global sales to this segment including North America and the Asia Pacific region.
TRW employ 180 people in Burnley and produce a wide range of automotive switch products.
