If you have the honour of going to Turf Moor, or “ont’ Turf” as locals would say, and you are seated in the James Hargreaves Stand, otherwise known as the ‘Longstand’, then you are greeted to breathtaking views of Burnley’s countryside.

Look even closer, and on the green horizon you can just make out Burnley’s award-winning Singing Ringing Tree sculpture that whistles when the wind blows. This sculpture has had over 1.5 million hits on You Tube.

Beyond Turf Moor, there is the stunning beauty of the Forest of Bowland, mysterious Pendle Hill, home to the famous ‘witch trials’ of 1612, and dozens of treks, mountain bike routes, bridleways and reservoirs for windsurfing.
