Rossendale Valley Sailing Club

Situated at Clowbridge Reservoir high on the moors above Burnley, Rossendale Valley Sailing Club is a high wind venue for windsurfing and sailing. Membership is open to everyone who has a genuine interest in the sport, RYA qualified instructors are on hand to teach you how to be safe on the water and during the summer months children  can learn the skills of the sport in the clubs fleet of Optimist and Topper dinghies.

The purpose built club house with a nautical theme looks out over the reservoir and has excellent facilities for members including a lounge,  catering facilities, changing rooms and a classroom for the sailing school;  a carpark, boat park and rigging area are right outside.

Surf and Turf

Windsurfing is the most popular activity and because the exposed location provides consistently good wind there is almost always someone on the water no matter what the time of year. At the weekends and on Wednesday evenings sailing activity is much more prevalent and  competitions take place to encourage members to hone their sailing skills.

The surrounding moors and hills are the perfect place to explore and they attract walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers throughout the year. Orienteering courses, marked footpaths and bridleways including the Mary Towneley Loop, criss-crossing the area. There is also coarse fishing in the reservoir by arrangement with the club where day tickets and annual angling membership can be purchased.
