I’m a Celebrity runner-up and Burnley lad Jordan North won the hearts of the nation when facing his fears in the popular ITV show, with his famous chant of “happyplacehappyplaceturfmoor” instantly trending on social media.
And now the Radio 1 DJ, who is a huge Burnley FC fan, has a billboard dedicated to him on Belvedere Road, close to Turf Moor.
The billboard was organised by Burnley.co.uk and burnley.social, who are asking residents in the town to head down to the billboard, take their photo with it and share them on social media, tagging both Burnley.co.uk and burnley.social. The new artwork will be up for a month, giving people plenty of time over Christmas and New Year to visit the Belvedere Road location.
When told about the billboard, Jordan said: “Thank you for this, honestly, it’s amazing. I’m going to try and get home over Christmas, so I’ll definitely be heading down. Thank you for doing this for me.”
Until Jordan can make it back up north, his mum Wendi and brother Ryan headed down to the billboard along with other members of the family, along with Darren Bentley, Media Manager for Burnley FC and Lisa Pearson, Head of Income Generation for Pendleside Hospice. There, they were interviewed by Granada Reports about what the billboard campaign meant to them and what they thought of Jordan’s achievements.
Jordan’s mum Wendi said: “If you’d told me 30 years ago that I’d be standing infront of a billboard of Jordan, I’d have fainted. We are so so proud of everything he’s achieved.”
You can catch the interview on Granada Reports tonight (18thDecember) at 6pm.
