Calling all rural businesses – don’t miss out on this new round of funding to help grow your rural business.

The Rural Development Growth Programme (RDP) via the Rural Payments Agency have announced a new pot of funding to support rural businesses.

They are encouraging rural businesses to submit expressions of interest by 16th February 2020 (details of workshops to help you submit your Expression of Interest is lower down in this post)

Funding is available in the following areas :

* Rural Tourism *

* Food Processing

Burnley is 80% rural so we’re sure we have several businesses who could benefit from the funding to grow and diversify their business.

The funding stream is now open to receive expressions of interest.

The minimum grants request has come down to £20,000 from £35,000, meaning that more small or micro-businesses may be eligible for a grant for their projects.

Diversification is a key rural issue, in uncertain times, creating a diverse, resilient business is the best thing rural businesses can do to ensure long term success.

Whether you own a farm and have some empty barns you are looking to convert or a country estate or existing farm shop or food outlet looking to expand, there are many different options and ways you can diversify and create extra revenue. The main factors that play a part into what you can develop is budget, planning permission, feasibility but most importantly your imagination. The funding can help unlock your rural location as a visitor attraction with great business potential – it could support businesses such as cafes, play barns, nature trails, creating a maze, glamping or an organic food outlet.
