A new festival is coming to Burnley in October, the British Textile Biennial, throwing a spotlight on the nation’s creativity, innovation and expression in textiles.
The Mr X Stitch Guide to Cross Stitch (@mrxstitch) will change the way you think about this simple embroidery.
While archive pieces from the Royal School of Needlework (@royalneedlework) will remind you of the historical context of needlecraft, the exhibiting artists use cross stitch to explore politics on international and interpersonal levels, as well as explore pop culture, contemporary design and the darker side of life.
The Mr X Stitch Guide to Cross Stitch will be exhibiting at Towneley Hall, Historic House, Art Gallery & Museum, #Burnley, throughout the British Textile Biennial (3rd Oct-3rd Nov 2019), and entry is free.
