More than 35 leading North West Employers from a variety of sectors took an unrivalled opportunity to showcase their Apprenticeship vacancies to a wide audience at the region’s leading Apprenticeship Careers Event.
The busy event has become a key date in the calendar of Employers who are at the forefront of their sectors and have invested in creating the forward-thinking, highly-skilled workforce of the future through Apprenticeship training with Themis at Burnley College.
This year’s event featured a well-visited Project Digital Hub, where visitors could discover more about the opportunities open to those considering a career in the exciting Digital sector, through the exclusive partnership between Themis at Burnley College and +24 Marketing. Employers and industry professionals offered an insight into the innovative work of the Apprentices who are pioneers in the Digital field and driven to succeed.
Ben Whitaker, Chief Education Officer at Project Digital, said:
“The Digital sector is constantly evolving: Project Digital’s training reflects this and gives Apprentices the skills, knowledge and resilience to not only keep up with the pace of change but become agents for change themselves. Our Apprentices are the future of the Digital Industry: they are bold; they are confident. Project Digital is already seeing results in its mission to provide the distinguished and dedicated workforce of the future; plugging the Digital skills-gap in the North West and helping driven individuals to thrive within the Digital Industry.”
With the North West’s reputation as a leader in the field of Aerospace Engineering and home to some of the leading names in the industry’s vital supply chain, it was no surprise that the Aerospace Hub at the Themis Apprenticeship Careers Event received exceptionally high footfall. The bespoke Hub housed:
• Magellan Aerospace/Euravia
• Paradigm Precision
• Hycrome Aerospace
• Senior Aerospace Weston
• Safran Nacelles
• ELE Advanced Technologies
• BCW Manufacturing Group.
Neil Burrows, head of the Engineering Centre of Excellence and Advanced Manufacturing at Themis at Burnley College, said:
“As North West Aerospace Alliance New Talent Training Provider of the Year, Themis has a national reputation for producing highly-skilled and motivated Aerospace Engineers who are leaders in their field and are focussed on becoming a #futureboss. Competition is high to secure an Apprenticeship in this exciting sector and the calibre of potential Apprentices was apparent at the event. It was clear to see that the industry will be in good hands going forward with such dedicated and confident young people already focussed on forging their careers in this sector.”
A specialist Interview Ready Hub was supported by leading national online fashion retailer Boohoo, based in Burnley, who provided a selection of interview outfits to display.
The event provided an opportunity for Themis at Burnley College to establish its position as the North West’s leading Business Solutions and Apprenticeship training provider, consolidating its close links with Employers. The Themis Apprenticeship Guarantee application process was highlighted at the event, illustrating the high expectations placed on Themis Apprentices, who must demonstrate their commitment, knowledge and motivation before meeting potential Employers, as well as show they have the confidence and skills to impress at interview.
Paul Sharples, Themis Business Solutions Manager at Themis at Burnley College, said:
“Our mission is to provide Employers with the highly skilled and motivated Apprentices who can make a real impact in their business from day one. We listen closely to what Employers demand in their Apprentices and ensure that Themis Apprentices have the skills that really matter in the workplace alongside their industry knowledge, such as great communication skills, flexibility, resilience and confidence. Our Themis Apprenticeship Careers Event is a great opportunity for us to focus on these attributes and ensure that potential Apprentices fully understand the expectations of their future Employers and the vital role they will play at the heart of their business.”
Employers were also pleased at the number and calibre of potential Apprentices attending the event. Chris Speakman, of Speakman Contractors, Burnley, said:
